Music in the Dominican Republic

In April 2026, I will embark on one of the most exciting and meaningful journeys of my life: helping to establish a music school in the Dominican Republic. This project is much more than an opportunity to share my love of music—it is a profound commitment to creating a sustainable and transformative program that will empower children, teachers, and the community through the universal language of music

From the moment I first envisioned this project, I knew it would demand an extraordinary level of dedication, planning, and collaboration. Establishing a music school is not just about putting instruments into the hands of students; it’s about laying a foundation that will inspire creativity, build discipline, and foster a deep sense of community. I am fully committed to ensuring that every aspect of this school reflects those values.

One of my first priorities is bringing instruments to the school. Many of these students have never had access to musical instruments, and I’m working tirelessly to secure donations, fundraise, and collect the violins, flutes, drums, and other tools that will help make their dreams a reality. Each instrument represents more than just a tool for making music—it is a bridge to opportunity and self-expression.

Equally important is supporting the teachers who will guide these students. I will be conducting teacher training workshops, sharing the pedagogical methods that have shaped my own musical journey, and equipping local educators with the tools and confidence they need to nurture their students’ potential. Teaching teachers is one of the most important ways to ensure that this school thrives long after my initial involvement, and I am committed to investing in their success.

Helping to develop the students from the very beginning is a responsibility I take deeply to heart. These children are at the core of this project, and I am determined to give them every opportunity to grow, not just as musicians but as individuals. I look forward to introducing them to the joy of music, encouraging their creativity, and witnessing the pride they will feel as they achieve milestones in their musical journeys.

This is not a short-term effort. My commitment to this project extends far beyond its opening day. I intend to build long-lasting relationships with the school, its teachers, and its students, staying involved in its growth and evolution over the years. My hope is that this school will become a beacon of opportunity, not only for its students but for the broader community as well.

The work ahead is immense, but it fills me with excitement and purpose. I know there will be challenges, but I also know the rewards will be immeasurable. To witness the moment when a child plays their first note, to hear the harmonies of an ensemble brought together for the first time, and to see the confidence and pride in a teacher’s eyes as they lead their students—these are the moments I am looking forward to the most.

As April 2026 approaches, I am preparing with an open heart, a steadfast commitment, and an unshakable belief in the power of music to transform lives. Starting this music school in the Dominican Republic is not just a project—it is a promise to share the gift of music and to nurture a new generation of musicians who will carry its magic forward for years to come.
