About the Founder

Miranda Cheng has dedicated the past 13 years to mastering the violin, beginning her musical journey at the age of four under the guidance of Mrs. Dorothy Rothman at the JCC Thurnauer School of Music. The JCC’s comprehensive curriculum—including music theory, private and group lessons, and string ensembles—provided Miranda with a solid foundation and cultivated her enduring passion for music.

A graduate of the Elisabeth Morrow School, Miranda had the unique opportunity to perform alongside world-renowned violinists such as Itzhak Perlman and Joshua Bell at Bergen Performing Arts Center. She remains an integral part of the Elisabeth Morrow community through the Summer String Festival, where she has grown from a camper to a counselor-in-training and now a counselor.

Since 2021, Miranda has been a student at the Manhattan School of Music’s Precollege Division, performing with the Philharmonic Orchestra. Currently attending Dwight-Englewood School, she continues to engage in a variety of musical ensembles, including orchestra, StringJam, and String Society.

Miranda has been a student of the renowned violin pedagogue Elizabeth Faidley since 2018, a mentorship that has provided her with extraordinary opportunities such as performing concertos with orchestras, touring Europe, and participating in masterclasses with esteemed musicians like Ray Chen, Midori, Hans Jørgen Jensen, and Caroline Woodman.

A decorated competitor, Miranda’s accolades include First Prize and the Jury’s Pick Award in the East Coast International Competition, as well as top honors in the Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition and Vivo’s International Music Competition.
